RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME
I like to think that my love of people - in particular their differences and pure diversity - is echoed my work. It's one of the many reasons I love portrait photography and, of course, there are so many different personalities under one roof at a wedding! Marrying this passion for people together with my passion for the local community, I recently volunteered my services as a photographer to document the work local charity RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme) who are part of the nationwide charity CSV (Community Service Volunteers) - the UK volunteering and learning charity. The main aim of CSV is to improve access to volunteer in local communities and RSVP particularly aims at retired members of the community. In all a very worthwhile charity which is sadly overlooked with the marketing budgets of national charities.
I was there to document their re-launch on 16 May 2013 and again at various RSVP groups throughout the city to photograph their activities. The images I obtained emphasise the individual personalities of those involved, and their relationships with each other. A series of my images are being exhibited at Coventry Methodist Central Hall in the town centre as part of the re-launch campaign. The exhibition takes placed on 21 June 2013 between 11am - 3pm. Check it out if you are passing by. I may even be there at some point, so pop in and say hello.
